'Get Your Wings' Weekend

This course aims to provide tuition and opportunity that will give a beginner the confidence to create stunning images by using all the manual functions of a Digital SLR camera. Course members will have close and extraordinary access to magnificent raptors as they learn and practise. They will gain new skills in image composition and camera technique in the company of experienced falconers and a photography tutor.

Saturday 10.00 all participants move to the field and have the chance at action shots with a bird flying over their cameras. This is followed by Coffee and Tuition and critique, we use a PowerPoint presentation on settings and composition, with an experienced instructor.

Moving outside we set up a shoot with a bird in a natural wild setting for you to try your hand at and use all you have learnt. This is followed by Lunch and then the 2.30 flying demonstration where those on a course have a special place to stand away from the public to get the best photos.

Return to the classroom to study what you have done and gain help and advice on how to improve on your results. This leads to a walk round and the chance to photograph other birds in other situations around the centre. At 4.15 the last flying demonstration gives you the opportunity for more action shots will all you have learnt previously.

Sunday 10.00 am on arrival you try for the moving action shots, walking with a bird following on, this gives you the chance to decide quickly on the best place to be, the angle of the shot, the light and deal with the unpredictability of wildlife!

Recover with a coffee in time for the 11.30 flying demonstration. By this time you are going to be able to anticipate the birds a little more and come up with much better results, which you will then view and discuss at the tuition session that comes next.

After lunch you continue with the 2.30 demonstration and remember each demonstration has different birds and so presents different challenges and light conditions. Moving to a quiet area you have the chance with two birds in natural settings to test all you have learnt.

You finish with a choice of the last flying demonstration of the day, or a walk round the rest of the birds and the chance to photograph them before the end of the course.

The cost of this weekend is £180 per person to include coffee and lunch, and a staff member to help you. Remember not only can you get this for yourself, or organise a day for your camera club, but it also makes a great present as a voucher. And think how much time and fuel you save buying it over the phone.

We are pleased to be able to organise b+b accommodation for you if you so require, it is not included in the price though. Please contact us for more information.

Please note: We apologise but should it occur that there are not enough people to make the course viable for us we will have to ask you to choose another date. We need to have at least 5 people on the photography days.
