The i-Zone

Our Education area is now called the i-Zone, I am assuming this means Information Zone!! But I could be wrong. It is a work in progress and will grow and change over the next year. With pictures and text on the walls, cases showing feathers and birds wings, mounted birds and a migration map we have started well.

Lanner silhouetteIzone BannerThe ceiling has a trail of silhouettes of birds crossing from one side to the other, it is the shape of a bird in flight that we see most often and this looks wonderful trailing across the room.

The map will have bird shapes and lights to mark the migration routes of birds both from North America to South America, and again in the European and Asian migrations.

The cases show various bird wings and tails, so you can compare and contrast the species that you know from around us. These all came either from our own birds who had reached the end of their lives, or some injured wild birds that did not survive.

There is some interactive material in there and there will be a great deal more once we get it done. Time is always a factor here and we would rather do it slowly and well than rush at it.

Keep an eye on the i-Zone, you will see it taking shape and getting more fun over the rest of this year. If you come on the Winter Owl Evenings we will make sure it it looking good and the owls do not mind the shapes above them as they fly in there!
