This is not a day for the faint hearted or the unfit as you will be doing a fair bit of walking, scrambling over fences and in the winter ploughing through mud, so you need to be used to walking. You may also see the hawk catch quarry in a natural habitat and so those who don’t think they would like that aspect should choose another day.
The day starts at 10.00 with initial training and handling a bird just so you know what to do. A quick coffee and you will leave the Centre with the falconer for the hunting grounds. Bear in mind there will be some time spent in driving to good grounds.
The morning will be spent on a farm where we have permission to hunt where you will be hunting with one hawk, you will be doing what we all do out hawking, walking beating for game, and watching the bird doing the work.
