Half Day Experience Course for Adults and Children

This is a half day for anyone interested in learning a little more about birds of prey. Or getting that little bit closer to the birds than most visitors to a bird of prey centre would be able to manage.

We will take children from the age of 10 upwards as long as there is a paying accompanying parent or guardian, this must be paying the entrance fee, although we would encourage them if possible, to participate in the day if they can. The half day is a wonderful experience and you have to like Labradors as well as there are five of them here.

We run the days on a voucher system, so you buy a voucher and receive this, a leaflet on the days and one on the Centre. The voucher lasts a calendar year from the date of purchase, giving the recipient plenty of time to take up and book the day they would like.

You will be able to find the available dates here. Booking the actual day only takes a phone call during normal office hours or a click on the Paypal button below.

The half days run every month of the year except December and January and include a weekend day. Booking can be difficult in the summer months as the days are popular, however your voucher is valid for a year, so you have plenty of time.

There are normally only four people on the course, being trained and encouraged by one or two of our staff.

The Half days start at 10.00am with the recipient arriving (country clothing is sensible please) with his or her voucher, they finish at 1.00pm, however please remember that you are most welcome to stay for the rest of the day, watch the two afternoon flying demonstrations, have lunch here, and learn more that you would ever imagine.

Should a participant (bearing in mind a child must have a paying adult with them) wish to bring a guest or two to watch, they are welcome to, we do ask that they to pay the normal entrance fee, and don’t forget to bring a camera.

The guests may watch their friends or relations all morning, take photos or video, bearing in mind that the other participates must agree if they are in a picture. The Half day makes a wonderful present and experience and in the 20 years we have been running experience courses, we have many letters and emails of appreciation. We are set in the most beautiful countryside and for anyone wanting to make a weekend of it there are walks in Wales, Canoeing on the River Wye, the amazing Forest of Dean, Cheltenham is only 35 minutes away and many other things to do, as well as visiting here at the Centre.

Outline of the course:

10.00am   Arrival at the Centre, all participants and guests come in at this time, Introductions, and straight down to the flying field to meet and fly a bird to the fist
